The Holy Land of Tyrol

The Holy Land of Tyrol

It is spring 1809. Katharina's Tyrolean husband, Franz, is arguing with a French soldier in Augsburg's marketplace. It ends with the soldier dead by accident and the young couple fleeing the city for Franz's homeland.

The Holy Land of Tyrol tells the story of the Tyrolean uprising of 1809 in a way it has never been seen previously. The film takes viewers on a breathtaking journey into the past through the lives of a Bavarian physician's daughter and a South Tyrolean mountain farmer's family.

With unique historical images and original locations, The Holy Land of Tyrol captures not only one woman's life, but provides powerful and poetic feelings for the great issues of our time: love, war, religion and the search for our own identity.

The film is a South Tyrolean-Bavarian co-production of director Philipp J. Pamer and producer Florian Reimann demonstrating that 200 years after the war between Bavaria and Tyrol, a shared future through common history is possible.
