Patrick: Welcome to Tax Talk here on Easter Sunday. Today, I’ve got Jeff Pickering and Brad Bolinger of Bolinger and Hogue. We’ve got two CPAs and Brad is actually an attorney in the North Texas area specializing, or at least focusing on, the estate planning for lowering your taxes.
These guys know how to save you money on your taxes and that’s what we’ll be talking about this hour is ways to lower that IRS bill. And I’m sure that most of us, right now, that’s somewhat of a concern.
We’ve got some deadlines coming up. This show is going to be filled with information. You’ll want to listen in. Call your friends. Let them know about Tax Talk here on KLIF Talk Radio. Jeff, we have some deadlines to go to.
Jeff: Yeah, we have our deadlines. Our biggest deadline is April 15th. But, before that, it’s Tax Freedom Day on April 9th. It’s not really a deadline, but it’s a calendar; April 9th. So, on April 9th, 100 days into the year, that means you’ve stopped working for the government and you started working for yourself.
Patrick: What a relief!
Jeff: Yeah, April 9th.
Patrick: You only work for 100 days for the government. That’s good. We’ve got some other deadlines coming?
Jeff: Yeah, April 15th. That’s the deadline for individuals, partnerships, trusts, and for your first 1040 ES payment, estimated payments; extensions, property tax renditions for the business people, deadline to claim a refund from 2006, your mark-to-market elections, your Haiti/Chile contributions.
