I’ve been a pilot for a major U.S. Carrier since 1989. Before that I flew A-10s for the Air Force. I was stationed at RAF Bentwaters in the UK, and then at McClellan AFB in California. I left the Air Force and then we won the cold war. I think it was just a coincidence

Although there were potters in Kyoto during the Nara(710-794) and Heian(794-1192) periods, the ceramic industry began thriving here during the Azuchi Momoyama Period(1573-1603). During the subsequent Edo Period(1603-1868), many studios were built here. Kyo-ware, featuring a broad variety of techniques and elegant designs, is widely used as household tableware, ornaments and utensils for tea ceremony and flower arrangement.
Kyo Yaki / Kiyomizuyaki(Kyo-ware / Kiyomizu-ware)
Lacquerware techniques were established in Kyoto during the 9th century, on the basis of Chinese techniques introduced from the Tang Dynasty. During the 16th and 17th centuries, the division of labor progressed in the lacquerware industry, which began thriving with the boom in the tea ceremony. Lacquerware products primarily made of wood(Japanese cypress, cedar, horse chestnut etc.) are used as tableware, furniture and tea ceremony utensils.

Kyo Butsudan (Household Buddhist Altar:Kyoto is the birthplace of household Buddhist altars, which were first produced approximately 1,100 years ago. Since then Kyoto has produced the highest quality Buddhist altars. These are made from wood (pine, Japanese cypress, cedar or zelkova), ornamented with lacquer and sometimes with metalwork (gold or silver leaves, copper or brass).Kyo Butsugu (Buddhist Fittings):Buddhist fittings were first produced in Kyoto about 1,100 years ago. Even today, Kyoto is a major production center of the highest-quality fittings. Though Buddhist fittings are of great variety, they are primarily classified into those for Buddhist temples and those for household altars. Production of Buddhist fittings entails a great variety of handicraft techniques, ranging from woodwork to metalwork and lacquer work.

The name All About Washington Wines is pretty self explanatory that we’ll be talking about the wines of Washington state. You’ll notice a heavy focus on the wines of Woodinville, which is the area we live in. However, we won’t leave out all the other awesome spots in Washington State.
