Update 12/7/09: FYI regarding tonight's show!
The show scheduled for 12/7 has been postponed, as one guest is sick, and Al is having plumbing issues at home...not that kind, the septic tank kind! (Trust me, you don't want to know) We are going to reschedule the NHL Roundtable for Monday, 12/21/09.--------- Please remember we're moving the show's start time from 11 PM to 9 PM as of next Monday, 12/14/09. We think it'll be more convenient for both guests and listeners!
Here's our written in pencil guest list for the next few weeks:
Dec. 14: Gregory Shamus, one of the best sports photographers you’ll ever know (Getty Images, Pittsburgh Penguins, Red Wings, Cleveland Cavaliers, and others); don’t forget—this will be our first 9:00 show!
12/21: NHL Central roundtable with Bleacher Report writers from Columbus, Chicago, Nashville, and St. Louis.
We're doing our best to book guests every week, so please check back at the show page (or check our Twitter feed!) to see who will turn up on our next podcast!
Remember, The Knee Jerks have a Twitter account for our weekly podcast! It's Twitter.com/TheKneeJerks. You'll get the latest on guest news and show reminders, so please follow!
Expect bigger and better shows (and guests) as we go on, so make sure you tune in every Monday night when The Knee Jerks get down to Detroit sports business!
We will continue talk all things Detroit sports every Monday night from 11PM to sometime between 12:30-1:00AM. (Hey, we like to talk!) We're working hard to bring you the best in Detroit sports talk!
If you miss our live broadcast, not to worry. You can download our podcast after the fact, via our Blog Talk Radio page, RSS feed, the Zune Marketplace, and, of course, iTunes!
Thanks for listening, Greg Eno and Al Beaton, aka The Knee Jerks.

HANS THIES LEHMANN - The position of the spectator in theatre today
The spectator has become the central focus of reflection on performance and theatre since the theoretical/practical shift to the problem of what is the experience of an artistic (or artistically-motivated) gesture. This shift brings into focus the fundamental questions of spectating as an activity. This lecture will focus on several examples of different spectating as an activity. This lecture will focus on several examples of different spectating positions, and will in particular concentrate on a re-reading of the ancient concept of Anagnorisis, in the light of the debate around the polemics against »theatralicality«, which in a different understanding has become accepted as a positive qualification of performance art practice.
HANS THIES LEHMANN is Professor of Theatre Studies at Johan Wolfgang Goethe-Universität, Frankfurt on Main, Germany and directs Master Program in Dramaturgy there. His numerous publications include: Theater und Mythos, Essays zu Theatertexten ... His seminal work Postdramatisches Theater has been translated into many languages, and he has also been widely publication on literary theory, contemporary theatre aestetics, and film.

For decades we have avoided a difficult truth: Our pattern of development – the very way we build our towns and neighborhoods – costs more to maintain than it generates in return. We’ve masked this reality by inducing more growth through transfer payments between governments, reactionary transportation spending, debt and a Ponzi scheme of local government incentives. Our ability to use these mechanisms of growth is waning. Our cities and states now face a financial crisis of tremendous proportions. We can cut spending and we can raise taxes, but we will not be on a path to sustained prosperity unless we are willing to reform our approach to growth. Strong Towns is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization focused on the root of these systemic problems: our land use patterns—the way we have designed our towns and neighborhoods.
