Once Guru Nanak was traveling with Mardana and Bala. A man on top of a hill wouldn't give them any water so Guru ji took a stick and made a spring of fresh water appear at the bottom of the hill. The man got very angry and pushed a huge boulder down the hill to crush the Guru. Everyone ran away... except for the Guru. Mardana cried, "Guru ji please move, the boulder is coming right towards you, please move." Why wasn't Guru ji moving?!

Bhai Ghaneya ji was a most serviceful Sikh. His mission in life was to serve all humans no matter what group they belonged to. During the time of Guru Gobind Singh, he could be seen giving water to wounded soldiers on the battle field. He helped both the Khalsa soldiers and the Moghul soldiers equally. Some of the Khalsa saw this and thought, "He's healing the enemy, we have very little water, we must tell the Guru about him." And so they did....
